The Sacrament of Baptism is the basis for the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism, we are freed from original sin, and we are reborn as children of God. The Sacrament makes those who receive it members of Christ's mystical body, the Church. Those who are newly baptized receive a destiny to be coheirs with Christ of an imperishable and eternal Kingdom. The universal Church prays that through the life of faith and by God's grace, the one who receives this gift may bring that Christian dignity unstained by sin to the moment when God calls him or her from this world into the world that is to come.
Baptism Preparation
Parents planning on having their first child baptized you will need to view a Baptism preparation video in advance of the baptism. (At some point, we will begin offering our baptism classes again. The class should be taken before the child is born in order that the Baptism can be scheduled soon after the baby's birth.) The Baptism Prep is required for a second child only if the parents did not attend a class for their first child. Contact the parish office (309-266-9721) to register.
To schedule a Baptism, parents should call the parish office (309-266-9721) after they have attended the Baptism Class. Baptisms are held typically following the 11:30 am Mass any Sunday. (Baptisms are usually not held during Lent, however special circumstances can be made if needed.)
